Red and gold

Some stash acquisition occurred today - rich deep red yarn, and rich gold yarn. Hmmm, I wonder what that is intended for?!

More pictures forthcoming very soon.

I am rather looking forward to the pattern for Quidditch socks being posted at atypically.knit. I have a liking for bright, er, interesting legwear, and I've never attempted socks before. Had a quick tryout with some circular needles tonight as I've never used them before. Seems OK although I wasn't sure if the fabric would be the right way out or not! Surprisingly Vogue Knitting was not overly helpful on this topic. I learnt i-cords and cable cast-on from VK on holiday and I expected more nitty gritty on the subject of circs!

At last, an update!

I've been away on holiday recently (and catching up with stuff since I've been back) and this is the first chance I've had to update my blog.

Here's the rainbow baggie I made for my niece while on holiday (she loves it apparently!):

The mother-of-pearl dolphin bead is one I've had for what, 10 years or more. I bought it in the bead shop in Covent Garden. Finally I found something I could use it on :-) I lined the bag with purple felt and used some on the handles too. I'd have made i-cord handles but at that point I didn't have any DPNs. Woe was me until I visited one of the 2 yarn shops in Penzance, where I bought 2 sets and some recycled sari silk yarn.

More knitting updates to come when I've taken photos of the other baggie I made, which has an i-cord strap (my first ever i-cord); also my finished scarf and the progress on the camisole top in Colinette ribbon yarn.
